PCHC has long been a vital partner to St. Joseph Healthcare, working together to ensure our community's needs are being met. It is a pleasure to participate in their event and to help raise awareness and support for primary care provider teams in preventing cancer.

On September 16-17, 2022, Penobscot Community Healthcare (PCHC) brought the community together for its annual Over the Edge event to raise awareness of the need for accessible, consistent primary care in order to prevent cancer. According to the World Health Organization, Cancer was responsible for almost 10 million deaths in 2021, making it the leading cause of death worldwide.

St. Joseph Healthcare went “Over the Edge” as Dr. David Koffman and Sandy Nesin rappelled off the top of Hollywood Casino in Bangor. The wind was blowing as music played and people cheered. St. Joseph Healthcare was also a proud event sponsor.

“Over the Edge 2022 is a fundraiser to support primary care cancer prevention which is vitally important to our community and to St. Joseph Hospital. St. Joseph provides state-of-the-art screening that includes lung CT scans, mammography and colonoscopy services which help diagnose cancers at earlier and more treatable stages. We need to support all of our primary care providers in our community to get the word out to patients about how important it is for them to have their screenings to reduce the toll from breast, colon, and lung cancer.”
– David Koffman, MD, VP, Medical Affairs
