This month St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation received a gift of $100,000 from the estate of Judy A. Beals.
Mrs. Beals was raised in Milbridge and spent much of her life living in Holden. She was married to Parker Beals and worked as a secretary for the Air National Guard in Bangor. She enjoyed trips to the Maine coast and time with her and her husband’s many dogs. According to her neighbor and close friend, Randy Sherman, she was grateful to St. Joseph Hospital for having received excellent care every time she came to the hospital. She left St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation in her will, thus leaving a lasting impact on patient care and our community. She passed away on October 8, 2025.
“What a magnificent gift from Mrs. Beals! She chose to support her hospital with money she had saved over her lifetime. Her foresight will allow the hospital to begin replacing some of its aging elevators. I am so grateful to her for choosing to do this,” said Brad Coffey, St. Joseph Foundation President.
