Strong women are the backbone of the SAFE program: They are forensic nurses. They provide 24/7 coverage of specialized 1:1 medical care for victims of violence. They collect physical evidence, ensure advocates are available at the bedside and refer survivors to community partners that can help them heal and move forward. SAFE nurses also regularly train advocates, first responders and members of our community on how to recognize victims of abuse, assault or trafficking, and how to refer them for care. Thanks to your support, these nurses are always there for those in need. Essentially, there is no reimbursement model for this specialized care. When you donate, you keep this important program available in our community.
