Need fast and effective care for serious injury or illness in the greater Bangor area? St. Joseph Healthcare offers 24-hour emergency services with short wait times.
Surgeons and anesthesiologists are always at the ready, and our language interpreter services meet the needs of all families.
In an emergency situation, always call 9-1-1. In addition, the Northern New England Poison Control Center can be reached toll-free at 1-800-222-1222.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only one family member or friend is allowed with the patient, and they must wear a mask at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
For consultations and services not offered at St. Joseph Healthcare, we use telemedicine to connect with doctors in specialty areas of care who can provide consultation. This provides a better patient environment and experience, enabling us to provide care rather than having to transfer a patient to another facility.
At the St. Joseph Hospital Emergency Department, Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) nurses are ready to care for you or your family member who has been sexually assaulted or affected by interpersonal violence.
They provide a comprehensive medical forensic examination including evidence collection and have the ability to act as a factual or expert witness if needed in court.
Our nurses are also trained in photo documentation and can document your injuries as a result of an assault for your medical record.
SAFE NursesSt. Joseph has obtained the Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). GEDA was developed by leaders in emergency medicine to ensure that our older patients receive well-coordinated, quality care at the appropriate level at every Emergency Department encounter.
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), with support from The Gary and Mary West Health Institute and John A. Hartford Foundation, implemented the Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program to recognize those emergency departments that provide excellent care for older adults. St. Joseph Hospital’s Emergency Department has achieved the silver standard — Level 2 GEDA accreditation.
