Healing Through Art

Cornerstone Cornerstone News

Thanks to the generosity of artists Katia Mason and Kristbjorg Whitney and supporters of the Healing Arts Fund, St. Joseph Healthcare’s Demaso Family Lobby now features
stunning pieces of artwork.

Mason, a Boston native who spent summers in Corea, Maine, drew inspiration from her coastal experiences to create works that bring comfort and serenity to patients, visitors and staff.

The Healing Arts Commission, dedicated to creating a soothing hospital environment, acquired three of her pieces for the collection. One was donated directly by Mason, and
donor support of the Healing Arts Fund helped purchase two additional works.

This artistic expansion demonstrates St. Joe’s commitment to treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Collaboration with Jane and Kelly Littlefield of Winter Harbor’s Littlefield Gallery, who helped bring Mason’s work to the hospital, made this installation possible.

Your support of the Healing Arts Fund continues transforming our hospital spaces into environments that promote healing and provide comfort during challenging times. We encourage you to visit St. Joe’s and see the art hanging just outside the entrance to the gastroenterology practice in the main lobby.
