Whether you’re here for an hour or for the day, we know friends and family members can be an important part of the healing process.
St. Joseph Healthcare and Emergency Department are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please note that after 8:00 p.m. all visitors will need to enter through the Emergency Department doors and check-in.
To inquire about a patient’s room or telephone number, please call the hospital’s operator at (207) 907-1000, ext. 0.
Visitor Hours
We recognize the important role visitors play in the healing process for patients and we also know care and support doesn’t fall inside a neat schedule. That’s why St. Joseph Healthcare has adopted a patient and family-centered care model with suggested visiting hours from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. daily, and no restrictions on the number of visitors per day. Visitors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Options to extend or adjust visiting hours will be determined on a case by case basis.
Face Mask Requirements
Face masks are optional, with a few exceptions. You are required to wear a face mask if you have been recently diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19, or if you have symptoms of a respiratory infection (cough, fever, sore throat, etc.). When in doubt, wear a mask.
Face masks will continue to be available for anyone who would like to wear one.
Emergency Department
Patients entering our Emergency Department are prioritized based on need. Visitors may be asked to wait in their car until the patient is in a care room to allow sufficient space in the waiting area for patients awaiting care. Once the patient is in the care room, one visitor at a time may join them. Exceptions will be made as needed.
Surgical Waiting Area
Escorts for patients receiving surgical care or procedures are welcome to wait in our surgical waiting area.
Daily Mass
The Chapel is open for in-person daily mass service and is also available for patients, visitors and staff who seek a quiet space for prayer and reflection.
Sometimes, the normalcy of a family meal is enough to lift a patient’s spirits. Our cafeteria is located on the second floor of the hospital, and the hours of operation are:
