Try These Holiday Recipes – Cider and Snickerdoodles

The holiday season provides all sorts of opportunities to celebrate, worship, gather, visit – and enjoy seasonal treats. We hope you’ll try these fun and delicious recipes with your family.

Crockpot Apple Cider
Ingredients:
1 gallon apple cider
1 large orange, sliced with the peel on
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. whole allspice
3 cinnamon sticks

Instructions: Combine all ingredients in crock pot, heat on low for 2 hours and keep on warm throughout the day to serve hot. For your loved ones who enjoy a sweeter cider, try adding caramel syrup – yum!

Eggnog Snickerdoodles
Cookie Ingredients:
1 cup of unsalted butter
1 cup of granulated sugar
½ cup light brown sugar
1 egg
½ tsp. vanilla extract
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup eggnog

Topping Ingredients:
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions:

  • In a bowl or stand mixer, cream together butter and sugars; beat until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, then vanilla. Scrape down the bowl as needed to fully incorporate.
  • Add in small dry ingredients followed by the flour, one cup at a time.
  • Slowly add the eggnog to the bowl/mixer until fully combined.
  • Chill dough for 1-2 hours or until dough is manageable.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees, line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside.
  • Mix sugar and spices in a small bowl.
  • Scoop a small amount of dough and roll in a ball, then roll in topping mixture and place on a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Enjoy!
